Fees & practical
Everything you'd want to know before the first call, so the call can be about you.
Payment & insurance
I'm a private-pay practice and don't bill insurance directly. If your plan has out-of-network benefits, I provide a monthly superbill you can submit for partial reimbursement; many PPO plans return a meaningful share of the fee. It's worth one call to your insurer to ask about "out-of-network outpatient mental health" before we start.
Payment is by card through the secure client portal and is charged at the time of each session. Sessions cancelled with less than twenty-four hours' notice are charged in full, with the ordinary exceptions for illness and emergency.
Telehealth, California only
Clients of every faith and none are welcome. I'm a Christian, and if faith is part of your life it can have room in the work; if it isn't, it won't be pressed on you.
All sessions are by secure video. I'm licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and can see you only while you are physically in California; if you travel out of state we'll pause until you're back. You'll need a private place with a closed door, a stable connection, and a device with a camera. Phone sessions are available when video isn't possible.
How to begin
Book a free fifteen-minute call. If we both think it's a fit, I'll send you intake paperwork through the client portal, and we'll set a standing weekly time. Weekday appointments, with limited evening availability.
Under the federal No Surprises Act, health care providers must give clients who are not using insurance a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of services. You have the right to receive this estimate in writing before your first session and at any time you ask. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your estimate, you can dispute it. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit cms.gov/nosurprises.
